Tribute to Liberty's mission is to establish a memorial to victims of totalitarian Communism in Canada’s National Capital Region. Tribute to Liberty is a new Canadian organization that in less than two years has accomplished the first major objectives of its mission:

Victims of the atrocities committed by Communist regimes have not received recognition for their suffering. This is beginning to change: archives have been opened and the truth can no longer be hidden.

It is profoundly appropriate that a Canadian organization is establishing a memorial in Canada to commemorate victims of totalitarian Communism. Over 8 million Canadians trace their roots—and many their own lives—to countries that lived or live under Communism. Further, the memorial recognizes the role Canada has played in offering refuge to the millions that left behind suffering and repression to live in a free and democratic country.

Tribute to Liberty's next objectives to complete its mission are:

  • Raising the funds necessary to build the memorial
  • Conducting a national design competition to choose a design for the memorial
  • Overseeing the construction of the memorial and the development of the site the memorial will be located on
  • Unveiling the memorial
